• Treatment: Washed many times during the years. The holes at the left side pocket came because she carried her skateboard with the grip tape facing her pants. The hole on the knee is from a drunken night in Copenhagen. White marks at the back from biking every day. When the pants got really old she tried to do her own experiment at the hem by dipping them in bleach. Cool effect but very hard to achieve in production.

Last week the first Jean School (based in Amsterdam – NL) kicked off with the first day of this brand new study. The Jean School is an initiative from The House of Denim and ROC. During this 3 year study you will learn everything about denim, from design, developing, production, buying, sales, branding, etc. How cool is that, three years working with the greatest and most popular piece of clothing! I am really jealous on these students. One of the initiators of this study is James Veenhoff from The House of Denim. James asked me, together with Menno van Meurs from Tenue de Nimes Shop in Amsterdam and Alex Jaspers from jeans brand Amsterdams Blauw (Scotch & Soda), to give the first lecture about our passion; jeans. It was really nice to do and after the inspiring lectures the students and the teachers were really enthousiastic. Most of them told us that the spirit is even bigger than before. Nice those positive reactions. I wish I was a little bit younger to join them…Besides giving a lecture I displayed my Worn-Out Projects Expo there as well. Thanks James for the invite! LONG JOHN Worn-Out Projects – Raw Denim Event

Wouter Munnichs started the LONG JOHN blog with the intention of sharing his love for denim. Very soon, friends and fellow denim lovers began sending him pictures of their most beloved faded jeans so they could be shown in this new growing platform.

New edition from a great Worn-Out Project worn by my buddy Keith from Eat Dust jeans. Keith worked a lot on his bikes wearing this jean, it’s full of dirt! Also the repairs at the front pockets are nice. The pics are not 100% sharp, these are made after a tough night in the nightlife of Berlin. Enjoy!

This fall/ winter season Gerard Backx will make a comeback with his Atelier la Durance brand. We already saw the nice collection on the Bread & Butter fair some weeks ago, and it looks really good as usual! This weekend we received this nice 4 months old ALD from Dennis. He bought the jeans at the great denim shop Vib Shop in Sneek (NL). We would love to see the result over a year of wearing, but for now we already show you the state after 4 months.
